Ariyagama Siddhartha Maha Vidyalaya was founded on 16th March 1964. It is an impassable school that is situated in Mugunuwatawana. There are about 12 kilometers to school from Chilaw. At the present student population is almost 300 and the tutorial staff consists of 20 teachers. Now the school consists both primary education and secondary education. But there are not enough buildings and furniture to conduct classes yet. Although students don't have enough facilities to get education all students passed the Advanced Level Exam in 2012. They are the first A/L batch in the school. Many parents' occupation is cultivation in this village. So they have to face many difficulties to get education their children. However there is a learning situation in school due to the courage and good services of the long line of Principals, teachers, parents and well wishers.
